Comparison
Pixieset vs ShootProof for wedding photographers (2026)
Pixieset and ShootProof compared at matching prices: storage, video, downloads, commission, branding, contracts, and ShootProof's switch to GB plans on 23 September 2026.
Pixieset and ShootProof sit at almost the same prices, and both sell a print store, a portfolio and a gallery. They disagree on two things that cost money over years: who keeps the print commission, and whether contracts and invoices come with the plan.
One date matters. On 23 September 2026 ShootProof moves from photo-count plans to gigabyte plans and adds video hosting, with prices unchanged. This page uses the new plans, from ShootProof’s Photo Plan Change FAQ (updated 26 August 2026), and lists the outgoing ones below. Pixieset prices are from pixieset.com/pricing on 12 September 2026.
Pricing at matching price points
Pixieset quotes annual billing per month; ShootProof quotes a yearly total, so Pixieset’s yearly total is added in parentheses.
| Price point | Pixieset Client Gallery | ShootProof from 23 September 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 GB, 30 minutes of HD video, 15% store commission | 3 GB, photos only, no commission |
| $8 to $10 a month | Basic: 10 GB, 1 hour of HD video. $10 monthly or $8 billed annually ($96 a year) | Starter: 20 GB shared by photos and video. $9.99 monthly or $99.99 a year |
| $16 to $20 a month | Plus: 100 GB, 2 hours of 4K video. $20 monthly or $16 billed annually ($192 a year) | Standard: 100 GB shared by photos and video. $19.99 monthly or $199.99 a year |
| $24 to $32 a month | Pro: 1,000 GB, 5 hours of 4K video. $30 monthly or $24 billed annually ($288 a year) | Professional: 1,000 GB of photos plus 50 GB of video. $31.99 monthly or $319.99 a year |
| $40 to $52 a month | Ultimate: unlimited storage, unlimited video. $50 monthly or $40 billed annually ($480 a year) | Advanced: 2,000 GB of photos plus 100 GB of video. $51.99 monthly or $519.99 a year |
| $50 to $60 a month | No plan at this level | Premium: unlimited photos plus 150 GB of video. $60 monthly or $600 a year |
At every matching tier Pixieset is cheaper for the year: by $4 at the bottom, $8 at 100 GB, $32 at 1,000 GB, and $40 between Ultimate and Advanced. ShootProof answers with twice the storage on its cheapest paid plan, contracts and invoicing on every paid plan, and no commission anywhere. Both free plans are 3 GB; Pixieset’s adds 30 minutes of HD video and takes 15% of store sales.
ShootProof until 23 September 2026
Until the switch, ShootProof counts photos online at once, at the same prices: 100 photos free, then 1,500 for $9.99 monthly or $8.33 billed annually, 5,000 for $19.99 or $16.67, 25,000 for $31.99 or $26.67, and unlimited for $60 or $50. Existing accounts move to the equivalent plan; anyone over the new cap is moved up at their current price for a year.
Storage and video
Pixieset counts video in hours, separate from photo storage: 30 minutes on Free, 1 hour on Basic, 2 hours on Plus, 5 hours on Pro, unlimited on Ultimate. HD on the first two, 4K from Plus. Extra hours are $5 a month each.
ShootProof counts video in gigabytes. Free has none. Starter and Standard share one pool between photos and video, so a Standard plan holding 30 GB of films has 70 GB left for photos. Professional, Advanced and Premium give video its own cap of 50, 100 and 150 GB, up to 4K, downloadable as the original or 1080p. Hosting arrives in September with the new plans; a firmer date and per-file limits are not published. If most weddings ship with a film, Pixieset’s separate hourly allowance keeps your photo storage intact; on ShootProof the films eat the pool until Professional.
Downloads
ShootProof publishes its download rules in detail: up to 4 free-download rules per gallery, 4 for the linked contact and 4 per album, each with a size (original, 900 px social, or custom), optional 6-digit PIN, print release, per-visitor limit and watermark. It is built for “3 free downloads, then buy the rest”. Bandwidth caps are not published. Our notes record no download or bandwidth figure for Pixieset and none of its finer controls; check pixieset.com before you count on either.
Store and commission
Pixieset takes 15% on the free plan and nothing on paid plans.
ShootProof takes nothing on any plan, including Free, on prints, products, digital files and invoice payments, once you connect your own payment gateway; ShootProof Pay, for US photographers, adds Apple Pay and Google Pay. The store has packages, promo codes, price sheets, abandoned-cart reminders, automated email campaigns and international labs. If you sell on a free plan, ShootProof’s zero against Pixieset’s 15% is the whole decision.
Branding and domains
Pixieset lists a custom domain, branded mobile gallery apps for clients and a website builder. The plan that unlocks the custom domain is not in our notes.
ShootProof puts your logo and watermark on the free plan and calls its galleries white-labeled from the start; “no ShootProof branding” is listed among paid-plan features. Every plan has a simple portfolio website with a contact form, and galleries can sit on a custom subdomain of your own site. The mobile gallery app covers 5 galleries on Free, unlimited on paid. Multiple brands are paid only. AI-resistant and tiled watermarks are available on new galleries.
Business tools
Pixieset sells a CRM (Studio Manager), a website builder, email campaigns and a $12 a month photo editor, and bundles its products into a Suite from $28 a month. Contracts and invoicing live in the CRM, not the gallery plan.
ShootProof includes e-sign contracts and invoicing with tipping in every paid plan, and sells online booking for $4.99 a month on any plan (landing page, contracts, invoices, automated emails, Google Calendar, questionnaires). Email marketing, sales reports, multiple users and 1-1 phone support are on every plan including Free. Archiving takes old galleries off plan storage from $2.99 a month for 25 GB and 5 cents per further gigabyte; photo archiving is included on Premium. Purchases are non-refundable; the trial is 14 days with no card.
Who each is for
Pixieset suits a photographer who wants website, CRM and galleries from one vendor, or who counts video in hours.
ShootProof suits a photographer who sells anything from the gallery and wants zero commission from day one, who needs contracts and invoices without a second subscription, or who would rather archive old weddings for $2.99 than buy a bigger plan.
The verdict, by situation
Free plan, selling anything: ShootProof. Same 3 GB, no commission, your logo, phone support. Pixieset if you need 30 minutes of hosted video for nothing.
Under $10 a month: ShootProof Starter. Twice the storage plus contracts and invoicing for $4 more a year.
Around 100 GB, photos only: Pixieset Plus is $8 a year cheaper; ShootProof Standard includes contracts and invoicing. Pick by the extras you will use.
Around 100 GB, with films: Pixieset Plus, because its 2 hours of 4K sit outside the 100 GB.
1,000 GB: Pixieset Pro is $32 a year cheaper with 5 hours of video; ShootProof Professional gives 50 GB of video and the business tools. If you sell prints from the gallery, ShootProof.
Unlimited: Pixieset Ultimate at $480 a year against ShootProof Premium at $600, which adds included photo archiving but caps video at 150 GB.

Where FOCL fits
We make FOCL, so weigh this section accordingly. FOCL Galleries meters storage only: 3 GB free, 100 GB for $10 a month, 500 GB for $19 and 2 TB for $39, with unlimited galleries and couples, no download or bandwidth cap, hours of video on paid plans (3, 10 or 30), and the FOCL wedding-day app on the same subscription. FOCL includes custom gallery domains with Studio and Pro. It has no contracts or invoicing, no separate website builder, no email marketing, no branded client apps, no archive tier and no unlimited plan, so if those decided the comparison above, FOCL is not your answer. If storage per dollar and running the wedding day matter more, see FOCL vs Pixieset and FOCL vs ShootProof.
