Comparison
FOCL vs Pic-Time for wedding photographers
An honest comparison of galleries, pricing, video, the print store and the wedding-day side. Where each one wins, with Pic-Time's prices as of September 2026.
We make FOCL, so read this with that in mind. Pic-Time is a strong product with a longer feature list than ours, and for some studios it is the better buy. Prices are from pic-time.com/pricing and the Pic-Time help center on 12 September 2026, and from our own pricing page. Check both before you decide.
The short version
Choose Pic-Time if print sales are a big part of your income and you want sales automations, an album designer, slideshows, blogs, more than 30 labs, or links to Lightroom and HoneyBook.
Choose FOCL if you shoot weddings and want the day itself handled too: timeline, shot list, family photo list, couple portal and a phone app that works with no signal, next to galleries with more storage per dollar and downloads that are never metered.
FOCL Galleries also works for portraits, families and events. Create a standalone gallery with a client or session name; no wedding is needed. In Settings → Downloads, choose which sections or individual photos clients can download while keeping the others visible. How download controls work.
Pricing
Both have a free plan. Both meter storage. Pic-Time counts photo and video storage separately; FOCL has one pool.
| FOCL | Pic-Time Client Delivery Suite | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 GB, photos only | 10 GB of photos, 1 GB of video |
| Around $10 a month | Essentials: 100 GB, $10 monthly or $100 a year | Beginner: 20 GB of photos, 5 GB of video, $8 monthly or $7 billed annually |
| Around $20 a month | Studio: 500 GB, $19 monthly or $190 a year | Professional: 100 GB of photos, 30 GB of video, $25 monthly or $21 billed annually |
| Around $40 a month | Pro: 2 TB, $39 monthly or $390 a year | Advanced: unlimited photos, 60 GB of video, $50 monthly or $42 billed annually |
At the plans most wedding photographers buy, FOCL gives you about 5 times the storage for the same money: 100 GB for $10 against 20 GB for $8, and 500 GB for $19 against 100 GB for $25.
Pic-Time’s Advanced plan is unlimited within fair use. Their help center says usage above 20 GB per gallery or 100 GB of bandwidth a month may incur additional fees, and a 10 GB gallery downloaded 10 times is 100 GB. FOCL’s Pro plan stops at 2 TB, with no bandwidth cap. Above 2 TB and inside those limits, Pic-Time wins.
Pic-Time’s free plan has more room, 10 GB of photos and 1 GB of video against FOCL’s 3 GB, but no logo or watermark; those start on Beginner, and removing Pic-Time branding starts on Professional. Every FOCL plan, including Free, includes your logo, watermarks, passwords, expiry dates, unlimited galleries and full-resolution downloads. Video is the one FOCL gallery feature that needs a paid plan.
Downloads and bandwidth
FOCL does not meter downloads or bandwidth. Storage is the only thing we count. A guest can download one section on its own, and large ZIPs are emailed as a link that stays valid for 7 days.
Pic-Time’s pricing page does not publish a bandwidth figure below Advanced, and we could not verify one, so treat it as unknown rather than unlimited.
Video
- Pic-Time gives each plan its own video allowance, up to 4K: 1 GB on Free, 5 GB on Beginner, 30 GB on Professional and 60 GB on Advanced. More is an add-on: 100 GB for $10 a month billed annually or $16 monthly, up to 5 TB for $60 billed annually or $100 monthly.
- FOCL includes hours of video per paid plan: 3 on Essentials, 10 on Studio, 30 on Pro, up to 30 GB per file. Films use storage by size as well, but the hours are the limit that bites first. It streams at the quality the connection supports, the couple downloads the original or 1080p, and it is never in the ZIP and never watermarked. Files above roughly 200 Mbps bitrate cannot be processed, so export a delivery version.
One pool is simpler for a film and a ceremony edit per wedding. Many hours of video and little else favor Pic-Time’s 5 TB add-on over FOCL’s 2 TB ceiling. See delivering wedding video alongside photos.
The wedding day itself
This is the real difference, and Pic-Time does not try to do it. The subscription that hosts your galleries also gives you:
- A timeline with photo moments flagged. Import the planner’s PDF and it fills itself in. On the phone, “+5 min” cascades a delay through the rest of the day.
- A family photo list you work through on your phone, one grouping at a time. See how to run family photos in 25 minutes.
- A shot list in sections, assignable to a second shooter.
- A couple portal where the couple fills in people, family groupings and their timeline, and nothing lands in your brief until you approve it.
- A phone app that works with no signal, if you opened it while online. Ticks made offline are not synced later.
- Team access: 2 seats included, $5 a month for each extra.
Pic-Time connects to HoneyBook, Studio Ninja, Iris Works, Light Blue and Pixifi on every plan; FOCL does not.
Galleries, feature by feature
Both do the essentials: sections (Pic-Time calls them scenes), custom covers, hidden photos, passwords, expiry, activity tracking, email delivery and a print store. Both offer custom domains: Pic-Time from Professional up, and FOCL with Studio and Pro. See custom gallery domains for FOCL setup.
FOCL extras that matter for weddings:
- Photo search for guests. A guest types “cake” or takes a selfie and gets every photo they are in. At Pic-Time, keyword, face recognition and selfie search for clients are on Advanced only.
- Couple Controls. The couple hides photos from their own guests with a short code. You see what they hid and can restore it.
- Favorites you can act on. By person or by photo, filenames to copy, a CSV for your album designer. At Pic-Time, client selections start on Professional.
- Shared sets. A link to just the photos you choose, with your branding, for a florist or a magazine. Pic-Time’s Vendor Network does a fuller version from Professional up.
Pic-Time extras FOCL does not have:
- Sales automations, coupons and gift cards on every plan.
- An album designer (basic on all plans, the AI version on Advanced), slideshows, blogs and an art store.
- Lightroom upload, multi-brand at $6 a month per extra brand, and a migration service on paid plans.
Print store
FOCL’s prints are made by WHCC; you set a markup over the lab cost and keep the difference, and FOCL handles payment and shipping, with payouts through Stripe. Pic-Time offers more than 30 labs, packages, custom products and automated tax. When Pic-Time collects the payment it takes a commission on your markup only: 15% on Free and Beginner, 8% on Professional, 6% on Advanced. Collect payments yourself on Professional or Advanced and there is no commission; on Free and Beginner the 15% applies either way. If prints are a large share of your income, this favors Pic-Time. Our guide to pricing prints in your gallery applies to both.
Switching
Moving into Pic-Time is easier than moving out: their paid plans include a migration team. Moving from Pic-Time to FOCL is a download and an upload. Export each gallery at full resolution, then drag the folders into a FOCL gallery. Your couples get a new link. There is no importer for favorites or visitor history.
The verdict
If your studio sells prints and albums hard and lives inside a CRM, Pic-Time’s Professional plan is the safer choice, and Advanced adds client-side face search.
If you are a wedding photographer first, and want the day run from your pocket and the photos delivered without watching two storage meters, FOCL is built for that, at a lower price at every tier below unlimited. Start on the free plan and see. For the wider field, read FOCL vs Pixieset as well.
