Comparison

FOCL vs PASS Gallery for wedding photographers

PASS is built around print sales and starts at $1 a month. How it compares with FOCL on storage, video, commissions, downloads and the wedding day, as of September 2026.

Updated October 2026

We make FOCL, so read this with that in mind. We have tried to be fair. PASS has a clear idea of what it is: a gallery whose job is to sell prints, with marketing automations and coaching built around that. Prices below are from passgallery.com/pricing and passgallery.com/product on 12 September 2026, and from our own pricing page. Check both before you decide.

One note on the address. PASS lives at passgallery.com. The domain pass.gallery now belongs to an unrelated Android app for loyalty cards and tickets.

The short version

Choose PASS if print sales are the main way you earn from a gallery and you want the selling done for you: a store in every gallery, automated sales emails, pre-built campaigns, an album design tool, a native client app and, at the top, a coach. Choose it too if you want unlimited storage at around $40 a month.

Choose FOCL if you shoot weddings and want the day itself handled, the timeline, shot list, family photo list, couple portal and offline phone app, next to galleries with more storage per dollar in the middle tiers, video delivery, and a free plan that includes your branding.

FOCL Galleries also works for portraits, families and events. Create a standalone gallery with a client or session name; no wedding is needed. In Settings → Downloads, choose which sections or individual photos clients can download while keeping the others visible. How download controls work.

Pricing

PASS’s plan cards start at $1 a month. There is no free plan on the cards, although the FAQ on the same page still refers to one. FOCL’s free plan is 3 GB.

FOCLPASS
Free3 GB, photos only, unlimited galleries and couples, your brandingNo free plan on the cards. Starter: 10 GB, $1 a month, 15% commission, no logo
Under $10 a monthBasic: 20 GB, $8 monthly or $6 a month billed annually ($72 a year). Adds gallery templates and client support, still no logo
Around $10 a monthEssentials: 100 GB, $10 monthly or $100 a year
Around $20 a monthStudio: 500 GB, $19 monthly or $190 a yearStandard: 100 GB, $24 monthly or $20 a month billed annually ($240 a year). Adds your logo, custom domain, watermark, no commission
Around $40 a monthPro: 2 TB, $39 monthly or $390 a yearUnlimited: unlimited storage, $44 monthly or $38 a month billed annually ($456 a year)
$125 a monthPlatinum: everything plus a dedicated rep, print concierge and custom marketing

At the bottom, PASS’s $1 Starter gives you 10 GB against FOCL’s free 3 GB, but Starter takes 15% of store sales and does not carry your logo. At around $20, FOCL gives 500 GB against PASS’s 100 GB. At around $40, PASS is unlimited and FOCL is 2 TB, so if you keep more than 2 TB online, PASS wins that line.

Your logo on the gallery, called Custom Branding on PASS, needs Standard at $20 to $24 a month. On FOCL, your logo, studio name, bio and socials are on the free plan. Video is the one feature that needs a paid FOCL plan.

Downloads and bandwidth

FOCL does not meter downloads or bandwidth. Storage is the only thing we count. On every plan you can switch downloads on or off, require a PIN for ZIPs, offer high resolution or 2048px web size, let a guest download one section on its own, and have large ZIPs emailed as a link valid for 7 days.

PASS lists hi-res and low-res downloads on every plan and says nothing about bandwidth.

Video

PASS’s pricing and product pages do not mention video at all. If you deliver films, ask PASS what it supports before you sign up.

FOCL accepts video on paid plans up to 30 GB per file, includes hours of it per plan (3 on Essentials, 10 on Studio, 30 on Pro), streams it adaptively, and the couple can download the original or a 1080p web version. Videos are never watermarked and never go into the ZIP. Files above about 200 Mbps cannot be processed, so export a delivery version first. See delivering wedding video alongside photos.

The wedding day itself

This is the real difference, and it is not something PASS tries to do.

FOCL started as a wedding-day app. The same subscription that hosts your galleries gives you:

PASS’s extra tools are all about selling after the wedding: automated emails, campaigns and, on Platinum, a person who sets up your store for you.

Galleries, feature by feature

Both do the basics: galleries, favorites, downloads, a print store and a portfolio page. Both offer custom domains: PASS from Standard up, and FOCL with Studio and Pro. See custom gallery domains for FOCL setup.

Things FOCL does that PASS’s pricing page does not list:

Things PASS does that FOCL does not:

This is PASS’s home ground. The store is on in every gallery, prints come from labs in the US and Canada, and every plan gets premium products, multiple price lists and the album tool. On Starter, PASS takes a 15% commission. From Standard up there is no commission, with a 3% fee on orders where PASS handles the payment. The Basic card lists no rate and the compare grid does not mark Basic as commission-free, so ask PASS before you choose it.

FOCL’s prints are made by WHCC. You set a markup over the lab cost and keep the difference; FOCL handles payment and shipping, orders appear in your studio, and payouts go through Stripe. If a big share of your income is prints, PASS’s automation is a real advantage. If prints are a side line and delivery is the job, FOCL’s store does the job without the machinery. For the markup, see how to price prints in your gallery.

Switching

Moving from PASS to FOCL is a download and an upload. Download your originals, then drag each folder into a FOCL gallery; folders become sections. Your couples get a new link. There is no importer for favorites or order history.

Do the download before you cancel. PASS’s FAQ says a cancelled account drops to the free storage limit, and galleries above the limit are removed.

Which one should you pick?

If your galleries exist to sell prints and you want the marketing automated, PASS is built for exactly that, and its Unlimited plan is a fair price for unlimited storage.

If you are a wedding photographer first, want your branding and privacy controls without paying for Standard, need to deliver video, and want the wedding day run from your phone, that is what FOCL is built for. For the rest of the field, see FOCL vs Pixieset and Pixieset alternatives.
